Pumpkin Beer Quest Beer #3: Southern Tier Pumking

Southern tier pumking. Beer number 3.

The quest continues! This time I had Southern Tier’s Pumking by recommendation from a lot of people telling me it was the best one they’ve had. And they were right!

It’s not as strong on the nose as the Weyerbacher, but it was bursting with pumpkin flavor after the taste. It has a very nice blend of pumpkin and spice—very well balanced.

After looking at the bottle, I saw that there was just pumpkin purée with kettle and aroma hops.  No crazy spices like the Weyerbacher, and yet, it totally tasted like a really great pumpkin pie. I know in my last post that I said the Weyerbacher was up there, but I think this one is my favorite so far. The Weyerbacher took some time to get used to where as this one was just pleasant from the first sip! Definitely gets you in the autumn mood.

This will be my last entry for the next two weeks. I’m heading to England and France for mine and Dr. Awesome’s long-awaited honeymoon. We’re really excited and I’m sure I’ll have many posts about our travels when I get back!

Happy Fall everyone!
