Hummus (among us)

After our terrible first attempt at making hummus with our newly purchased blender, I decided to try again, this time adding the liquids a little at a time.  And it came out great!

Instead of adding 3 raw garlic cloves like I did last time, I only added one and more Tahini.  That bowl was reduced down to the tiniest tupperware we had.  Had it with some pita, cucumber and tomato.  Nothing better than that on a hot night in NYC.  You’d think I’d be a little adverse to anything chickpea because of my trip to Israel (I ate a TON of falafel and hummus and vowed to steer clear for a while).  But it’s so easy and delicious.

My friend and his wife from out of town are visiting this weekend and we’re going to head to the Cloisters.  It’ll be an interesting experience.  Any good recommendations for food around there?

  1. That’s my neighborhood! There is the new leaf cafe, which has a nice brunch on Sundays in the middle of the park. Blue Evolution is lovely. There is a new Mexican place that I haven’t tried yet. What kind of food you looking for?
